Relationships…Keeping the Flames Going
February is the time of the year in which we are still shivering from the winter chill, getting excited (or not) about the upcoming, much talked about SuperBowl. It is also the time that people reflects on relationships thanks to St. Valentine’s Day. Each year on February 14, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5 century. More than $20 billion are spent for the February 14 holiday. This is also a great opportunity to make sure that we are keeping the flames going in our relationships. After the honeymoon and the 7 year itch, we can get complacent within our relationship causing bad habits to creep in such as mind reading in other words thinking and feeling for our partner, getting caught up with the children and neglecting the romance and the intimacy aspect of the relationship or we just stop communicating with each other. These bad habits can cause a wedge in the relationship in which we start breaking down the companionship aspect of the relationship. How do we reignite our relationship?” is one of the most popular questions couples asked. And it makes sense since it actually concerns all couples.
